For use in irrigation, chemigation, and agricultural automation.
The AG2000 is a spool-type electromagnetic flowmeter for use in irrigation applications in 4” to 10” pipe. With no moving parts, these meters have unobstructed flow and are resistant to wear from debris found in ground or surface water. There are no bearings or propeller to wear out. Minimal straight pipe requirements allow AG2000 meters to be used in piping configurations where there is little space between the meter and an elbow.
In chemigation applications, the meter should be installed upstream of the chemical injection point or enough downstream to allow thorough mixing of fluids ahead of the meter.
The standard AG2000 is battery powered. Where an external power source is available, the AG2000 can be optionally converted to 7-26 Vdc, with the batteries then serving to maintain continuous operation in case of power failure. This configuration will prolong battery life indefinitely.
The meter comes with built-in pulse output (requires optional output cabling) for data logging or telemetry. Several pulse rates are available. An internal data logger is also available for secure flow logging (-127). A SeaMetrics FT420W indicator can be added if remote rate/total reading is desired, or an AO55W if a 4-20 mA (analog) signal is required.
The AG2000 has a seal wire to protect against unauthorized access. The seal can be broken to change units of measure, replace the battery pack, or to field-install a power/output cable. The optional cable can be factory- or field-installed for applications where external power is available and/or pulse output is needed. The accessory weather guard is recommended in outdoor applications.
The AG2000 generates a DC-pulsed magnetic field across the full bore of the meter to induce voltages proportional to flow as the fluid molecules pass through the field. The higher the velocity of fluid passing through the meter, the greater the voltages generated. The voltages are measured and recorded on the built-in rate and total display.
The meter measures induced voltages across the entire bore that are not dependent on the flow profile. Therefore straight pipe is not needed to stabilize the flow profile, as is required with insertion or mechanical flow meters. As long as there is not reverse flow through the magnetic field, the meter will accurately measure flow rates.
No. The AG2000 has been used in applications with solids in excess of 10% without measurable degradation of accuracy. There are no moving parts to become entangled, wear out, or break.
Yes. The AG2000 can be used in these applications with a high degree of accuracy. It is important, however, to install the chemical line downstream of the meter OR far enough upstream to ensure complete mixing of the fluid before it reaches the meter. (Alternating unmixed chemicals with water causes the magmeter readings to "jump" as a result of rapidly changing conductivities. This is true for all magmeters from any manufacturer. The problem is easily resolved, however, by proper placement of the meter relative to the chemical line.)
The AG2000 batteries are a pair of D cell Lithium 7.9 volt, fused, 19 amp hour batteries. They are replaceable, with an average wear life (depending upon the duty cycle of the meter) of approximately five years.
No. The calibration and logged totals are stored in a non-volatile memory, not subject to data loss.
Yes. With the addition of an optional external power/output cable, the AG2000 may be externally powered with a 7-24 Vdc supply. In this configuration, the batteries serve as back-up in the case of a power outage, when they will keep the meter continuously measuring and recording flow rate and total.
Yes. Output pulses are opto-isolated current sinking pulses from an NPN transistor. Available pulse rates include: 1 pulse/10 gallons with 10 ms duration; 1 pulse/1000 gallons with 100 ms duration; and various pulses per gallon with a maximum Hz between 125 and 130 Hz at full flow.
The totals on an AG2000 can only be reset using special software and hardware. Due to regulatory requirements, tamper evidence has become an important issue. Tamper-evident seals must be broken and replaced by an authorized distributor/dealer when regulatory requirements are in force.
